Marvel’s least-known superhero is also the smallest. Dr. Hank Pym, or the Ant Man, used his discoveries on substance particles to create a size-altering formula for humans. He first tested himself and failed; he ended up being shrunk down to the size of an ant. In the process, he created a machine that lets him communicate with and control different insects (IMDB).
On November 6, 2015, the bite-sized hero will be making his way to the big screen, according to Disney. The project has been a dream of creator Edgar Wright, who thought that the superhero of Ant Man might not be fit for mainstream audiences. But when he showed some test footage at last year’s Comic Con in San Diego, he actually got the opposite reaction (Yahoo Movies).
Most Marvel fans would be surprised to know that the Ant Man actually had a hand in forming the Avengers team (The Huffington Post). Unfortunately, the Avengers movie that was released earlier this summer did not even mention his name. Hopefully this exclusion is addressed in the upcoming film.
According to source IMDB, the movie is still in the pre-production stage, so fans will still have a long time to wait until the movie gets into theaters. In the meantime, viewers can watch three other Marvel movies that will be hitting theaters before Ant Man. Iron Man 3 will come to theaters on May 3, 2013; Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be hitting theaters on April 4, 2013; and Thor: The Dark World will be coming on November 8, 2013 (Yahoo Movies). Both Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World will be featured in 3D.
All of these movies are rumored to be leading us to another Avengers movie. Marvel fans should be excited considering they won’t have a shortage of superheroes any time soon.
