[singlepic id=403 w=320 h=240 float=]NBC has announced a wealth of new shows for its fall lineup this year. Chicago Fire is TV’s newest drama from producer Dick Wolf, most known for his work on the Law and Order series (NBC). The show captures the drama and reality of Chicago’s Firehouse 51.
It’s interesting that the creators picked Chicago as their location for the show, considering the history of New York’s firehouses. Chicago serves as an excellent location, given the history of the Great Chicago Fire that took place on October 8, 1871 (The Chicago Historical Society). The fire engulfed the whole city in flames and quickly became a huge part of the city’s history.
The pilot show begins with the loss of one of a team member, resulting in tension and disputes in the firehouse. Lt. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), leader of the truck, and Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), a member of the rescue team, try to place the blame on each other, and their efforts strain their relationship. Chicago Fire focuses on the different lives of the team members.
Paramedics Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Leslie Shay (Lauren German) also have their problems to deal with as they have the hard job of taking care of the many victims of the fires. These problems include dealing with the death of their patients and the tragic emotions that come along because of these deaths. Other members, like Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) have to deal with the troubles of foreclosure while taking on the hardships of being a firefighter. New team members, such as Peter Mills (Charlie Barnett), quickly realize that being a fire fighter is not the easiest job in the world and requires a lot of courage.
According to source Zap2it, the show will contain 5 episodes including the pilot episode. Be sure to catch the show on Wednesdays at 10:00 PM.
