Still looking for that perfect song for running on the treadmill, walking to the bus stop, or jamming out in your car? Well, here are some songs for every occasion.
For Walking to the Bus Stop:
“Love, Love, Love” by Of Monsters and Men – You’ve probably heard them sing “Little Talks”, their most famous song, but this bittersweet serenade is perfect for a typical, cloudy Pittsburgh day. One of my personal favorites, this song is sweet enough to not put you in a state of depression for the rest of the day, but doesn’t shove rainbows through your ears, either.
For Getting Ready in the Morning:
“Que veux-tu” by Yelle – For you Francophiles, you’re probably familiar with this one. If not, you should be. Sure, you may not understand it at all, but it’s insanely catchy and the dance beat will put you in a good mood for the rest of the day.
For Riding in the Car:
“Some Nights” by Fun. – Let’s face it; this hipster band has gone totally mainstream. Nearly everyone in school knows all the lyrics. So, blast it in the car and sing every word as loud as you can. I guarantee someone will join in.
The Ultimate Break-Up Song:
“Don’t Speak” by No Doubt – This classic 90’s song is perfect for shouting at the top of your lungs in anger. It’s just cheesy enough that you can embrace your fury at that not-so-special someone.
The “Yes, I’m in Love” Song:
“Whistle for the Choir” by The Fratellis – For you lovebirds out there, here’s a song for relishing the moments you spend with that person in the sweetest, most honest way possible. She “may be crazy,” but we all know you think she’s amazing.
For Running/Exercising:
“Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by Jet – For you cross-country people, you may be looking for a song to keep you motivated for running that extra lap around the track. Well, this one will help you survive that lap and make you want to go for another, just so you can finish listening to the song.
For After a Quiz:
“Fences” by Phoenix – For when you’ve finished that math quiz early and really don’t want to crank out that boring novel for English; Phoenix will cure your boredom. This chill song is relaxing but still catchy enough that you won’t wake up with drool on your desk when the mod bell rings.
For Trying to Sleep:
“Time Above the Earth” by The Kooks – This soothing tune will surely calm you and help you collect your thoughts. No matter how stressed and overwhelmed you may be, Luke Pritchard’s eerily Lennon-like voice will guide you into a deep dream state for the night.
