This up-and-coming album isn’t your typical 21st century album release. This album is much bigger. Lady Gaga will momentarily fade out of the spotlight as fans of original pop music are given a moment to reminisce by enjoying a new album from one of the most popular bands of all time.
One of the most influential pop bands of the 1970s, The Beach Boys’ unreleased album titled “Smile”, will see release relatively soon, most likely in the next few months. The album, brainchild of band member Brian Wilson, is without doubt much anticipated by many fans of early pop/rock music. The album was worked on by Wilson from 1966-1967, but was never released due to his unstable state of mind at the time.
The band is most notable for their hit album “Endless Summer”, which spent 155 weeks on the Billboard album chart, as well as spending some time at #1. Some of their major hits include Good Vibrations, Heroes and Villains, and Surf’s Up. Many are hoping that “Smile” will live up to the hype of its predecessors.
The album will be available in numerous formats for nearly all types of music listeners, including a 2-CD package, as well as a limited edition box set, which will include “early song drafts, alternate takes, instrumental and vocals-only mixes, and studio chatter.” (Paste Magazine) So whether you’re a die hard pop fan, or simply were searching through mom and dad’s old ‘far out’ records, this album is worth checking out.
“Yeah, I’m pretty excited!” Beach Boys fan Paul Park said of the upcoming album. If it’s anything like Endless Summer, I’m sure it won’t disappoint.” Fans will surely be rewarded for waiting so long- 44 years to be precise-for this album to come full circle. The late Dennis Wilson who was the Beach Boys’ original drummer said, “In my opinion [The SMiLE Sessions] makes Pet Sounds stink — that’s how good it is.” (Brian Wilson.com) And if Wilson’s opinion is somewhat true, then all Beach Boys fans, and fans of psychedelic pop in general will, without a doubt, be grooving to this album for years to come.
