Hastily answering essay questions. Stressing over sending manuscripts and test scores. The agony of waiting. Any of this sound familiar? The deadlines for college applications have passed and now the seniors at Upper St. Clair High School are anxiously awaiting responses from their future colleges.
Some seniors reflected on their application experiences and the agony of waiting. “I just wish we didn’t have to write so many essays about things we might not even be interested in,” says Brooke Ball. “That eats up so much time.”
If Brooke had to change one aspect of the application process, she would “require all colleges to be on CommonApp and to just use the one CommonApp essay.” That would greatly simplify the process.
“I personally won’t hear from any of my schools until April, which is just driving me up the wall,” said senior Kelly Connor. “If I had to change one thing about the college application process, I would require all colleges to give prospective students an answer by March at the latest.”
