The Students Creating Awareness (SCA) Club is a brand new club at Upper Saint Clair High School. On Tuesday, September 30, 2014, the SCA club held its first meeting with a few of its administrators.

One of the creators of the club, Amna Amin said, “The basic idea [for the club] is to choose a topic that people are ignorant about and then through research and blogging and hopefully a service project make them more aware of it and then be able to spread that knowledge to other people and their friends.”

One of the unique ways that the SCA club plans on sharing their information is through their tumblr blog, ignorance-intolerance.tumblr.com. The plan is to collect as much information as possible for each topic discussed in the club and post links, summaries, and basic information on the tumblr blog for others interested outside of the club.

The blog is also open for submissions and questions from people online. With the submissions, the club hopes to find more resources for information and stories from different people about how ignorance and/or intolerance has played a role in their lives.

The SCA club will be focusing on many different issues in the world that lead to ignorance and intolerance. They will be finding topics to research and discuss as thoroughly as possible. The mission of the club is to create a more informed society in hopes that it will become an open-minded society that can be more accepting and understanding.
